Recreational and Newcomer Participants
This event is for everyone, so don't let the championship title scare you.
Whether you are out for fun or for a walk there is a course for you including if you wish to try the course with a friend or two or as a family group.
The Open classes allows you to register for non-competition courses and experience Manitoba's finest sandhill terrain. You pick courses to match your preferred speed, length and technical difficulty.

Getting Here, Getting Around & Embargo
Winnipeg has a well serviced airport.
Brandon's airport has a Westjet flight to and from Calgary.
The pre or post events will be in Winnipeg (Thurs. evening, Fri. morning, Mon. Morning).
WCOC Model and Championship Sprint, Middle and Long will be in Spruce Woods Provincial Park.
Spruce Woods Provincial Park is approx. 2 hours West of Winnipeg.
Spruce Woods Provincial Park is approx. 50 minutes East of Brandon.
There is no public transit to Spruce Woods Provincial Park.
A Vehicle Manitoba Parks Permit is required for parking in Spruce Woods Provincial Park (Friday Model, Sat. Sprint & Middle, Sun. Long).
Park Permits for your vehicle may be purchased online (https://www.manitobaelicensing.ca) or from a retailer (more info. on Park Vehicle Permit here).
Embargo Areas. Click on the map to see the embargoed areas for WCOC 2024. The red middle and long areas show the embargoed areas. The yellow sprint area is embargoed but you may camp at the Kiche Manitou campground provided you do not orienteer nor reconnoitre in the embargoed sprint area. You may not investigate, plan or test route choices, etc. in the embargoed sprint area.

For Thursday night Winnipeg offers many options.
WCOC championships events are in Spruce Woods Prov. Park, 2 hours West of Winnipeg, 50 min. East of Brandon.

Kiche Manitou is the Campground in Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

Sharing Accommodation & Transportation as well as Billets
We suggest people use the WCOC event page on Attackpoint as a means to coordinate sharing accommodations or vehicle rentals. Feel free to post a message in the discussion section.
